Robert D. Dumas, 68, of New Bedford passed away Monday, October, 9, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a brief illness.  He was the loving husband of Nancy M. (Andrade) Dumas.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Ernest and Betty (Gagnon) Dumas, he was a lifelong resident of the city.  Robbie graduated from St. Anthony High School and later worked as a custodian for 20 years for the City of New Bedford School Department until his illness. He was an umpire for many years for Whaling City Little League and was an avid local sports teams fan.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy;  a son, Michael E. Dumas of Hudson;  a step daughter, Dolly Sharek of Hudson;  a brother, Michael J. Dumas and his life partner Diane Marceau of New Bedford;  a sister, LuAnn James and her partner Stephen Cabral of Raynham;  several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Wally Soares of New Bedford.  Robbie was the brother of the late Dennis E. Dumas and infant twin boys.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.  Memorial calling hours are from 5-7pm Friday, October 20, 2023 in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
