BUZZARDS BAY - Robert P. Guimont, 77, of New Bedford passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing and Rehab Center in Bourne.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Alfred and Jeannette (Caron) Jerome, and lived all of his life in the city. Robert was a skilled carpenter by trade and loved to work with his hands and build with wood. He had also worked at Alden Corrugated as a machine operator until his retirement. Robert had many hobbies including going to the dog races, bowling and shooting pool with his friends and family, and teaching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren many different types of card games (even though they always said he was cheating).

He is survived by his daughter, Myra Wunschel, son Jesse Guimont, along with his fiance Jean Bettencourt all of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Sarah Rebello and her husband Brad, Joshua Wunschel and his wife Kayla, Cortney Guimont, Justin Guimont, and Danielle Lacasse and her husband Benjamin; five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Owen, and Sophia Rebello, Hazlee Wunschel, and Sage Lacasse; his son in law Gary Wunschel and many nieces and nephews. Robert was the last of 9 children.
