Obituary

ATTLEBORO--Robert Russell Walker, a man who built his life on hard work, a love for the outdoors, and a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of nature, passed away surrounded by family on July 1, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on March 9, 1938 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, Bob spent his early years developing the values of dedication and grit that would define his entire life. A talented and dedicated tradesman, Bob took immense pride in his craftsmanship. He possessed the rare gift of being able to fix, build, or improve almost anything. To those who knew him well, he was a perpetual creator, always tinkering with a project, perfecting a detail, or finding a creative solution to a hands-on problem.

Bob was a proud, loyal, and hardworking member of the Pipefitters Local 537 Refrigeration Division out of Boston, MA, for 70 years, working as an industrial refrigeration service technician and pipefitter.

While Attleboro held his roots, Bob’s heart belonged to the outdoors. He spent many of his happiest summers on the shores of Cape Cod, navigating the waterways at the helm of his beloved boat, Stebo.

In time, Bob found his ultimate sanctuary in Denmark, Maine, the place he proudly called home. Whether he was cutting through fresh snow on his snowmobile or spending sunny afternoons boating on the calm waters of Moose Pond, it was here, surrounded by the woods and water, that Bob found his true peace. On occasion, if you were looking for Bob, there was a good chance you would find him at Peking, the local Chinese restaurant, enjoying his Scorpion Bowl.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Russell E. and Marguerite Walker; his son, Robert S. Walker; his sister, Frances Harding, and her husband, Kenneth (“Chet”) Harding; his brother-in-law, Bion (“Brad”) Hall Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Pike.

His legacy lives on through those who survive him, including his loving wife, Carol Walker; his son, Steven Walker; his daughter-in-law, Linda Walker, wife of his late son, Robert S. Walker; his brother, Russell Walker, and his wife, Judith; his sister, Debra Hall; and his grandchildren, who knew him as “Bepe”: Ryan Walker and his wife, Jessie; AlexaRae and her husband, Justin Fetty; Robert S. Walker Jr.; and Jennifer Walker. He also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on a later date in conjunction with a celebration of the life of his late son, Robert S. Walker.
