Roberta
Horsfall
November 4, 2022
Roberta (Wilk) Horsfall, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 4, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was battling dementia, and had recently contracted the Coronavirus. These together took their toll and she needed to be at rest. She was the daughter of the late Edward W. And Adela (Panek) Wilk and the sister of the late Edward W. Wilk, II.& She was the wife of David E. Horsfall.
Roberta was born and raised in New Bedford and settled in East Freetown to raise her family. She graduated from New Bedford High School where she was a cheerleader and played field hockey. She went on to earn her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in elementary childhood education from Bridgewater State College. She was an amazing first grade teacher at the Charles S. Ashley School for many years, a job she loved. In her early thirties, she suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage. Miraculously, she survived and worked endlessly to regain as much of her way of life as she could.
Roberta was known for her beautiful sense of humor and for being an extraordinary mom and Gramma. She loved baking, gardening and was an animal lover, never without a furry companion. She loved feeding the hummingbirds and animals that frequented her backyard and soaking up the sun on her pool steps. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to Andrea Boccelli, the Platters and Barry Manilow on her stereo, especially alongside her dog, Zack.
Roberta will be missed incredibly by her family. She is survived by her husband David; a daughter, Stacey A. Maloney and her husband Timothy of New Bedford; a son, Andrew D. Horsfall and his wife Lauren of Nesconset, NY; six grandchildren, Kylie A. Maloney, Ashley C. Maloney, Gracie A. Maloney, Avery M. Horsfall, Jack E. Horsfall and Ford E. Horsfall; a great granddaughter, Arya E. Adams; and her beloved cat, Penny. She loved them all immensely.
In accordance with Roberta's wishes, services will be private under the direction of the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford. For memorial register please visit, www.newdayfunerals.com.
