DARTMOUTH - Ronald S. Plourde, 86, CWO, U.S. Navy Retired, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Sylvio J. And Helen (McAloon) Plourde. Ronald was a 1956 graduate of Greater New Bedford Vocational High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years throughout the Vietnam War until his retirement in 1976 as a Chief Warrant Officer. Ron served 15 years of his time in foreign or sea service. He was an active volunteer at the Fort Taber-Fort Rodman Museum in the cities south end and also a member of the New Bedford Rod and Gun Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Private burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery are entrusted to the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.
