Shirley A. (Tavares) Sylvia, 79, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Vibra Hospital in New Bedford, after a period of declining health.

Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late John and Belmira (Costa) Tavares, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in New Bedford.& Shirley was a product planner at Cornell Dubilier for 45 years until her retirement.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, visits to New Hampshire and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Robert J. Sylvia and his wife Nicole of Middleboro and Shelley Sylvia of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Jordan Sylvia, Zavier Andrews, Mckenzie Pellitier, Kendal Andrews and Alaina Pellitier; an aunt, Natalia Ventura of Dartmouth and her children, Anna Marie Ventura and Carleen Ventura.
