NEW BEDFORD-Sonya Lee Mariano, 37, of New Bedford passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Noemia (Nunes) Mariano and Casimiro Mariano.

Sonya attended New Bedford High School and was a lifelong resident of the city.

She is survived by her parents;  her children, Jasmine and Mason Chen;  her siblings, Mike Mariano of New Bedford and Lisa Lopes of Taunton;  two nephews, Justin and Shawn Lopes and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 9:30-11:30AM with a service at 11:30AM in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford.  Cremation will follow.  For facility directions and memorial register go to, www.newdayfunerals.com.
