Steven
Alves
October 11, 2024
Steve Alves, a beloved husband, father, grampie, godfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 67 on October 11, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with a rare neurological disease.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Cheryl; his daughter, Kimberly, and son-in-law, Johnny; and his son, Steven, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie, along with his two grandchildren, Aidan and Ava. Steve was immensely proud of his family, finding joy in who they were and each thing they achieved. He always looked forward to their time together, from family dinner nights to family vacations.
Since founding his company in Fairhaven in 1983, Steve was a passionate entrepreneur who always had a new idea to pursue. He employed many over the years, including his father, brothers, and nephews, proudly making it a family business. Outside of work, Steve loved driving around, enjoying local scenery, and napping in the sun. He loved going to Patriots games with his son and vacationing in Florida, where he found peace and relaxation.
Known for his generosity, Steve helped countless family, friends, and those in need, regularly volunteering at The Salvation Army. He had a remarkable ability to find opportunity in life's challenges and never taking things too seriously, which endeared him to many. A lifelong learner, Steve enjoyed reading, sudoku, tetris, trivia, and sharing fun facts, often delighting those around him with his knowledge.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no public services for Steve. Those who wish to pay their respects may visit him at Center Cemetery in Rochester, MA. His family was proud to fulfill his desire to donate his body to science, collaborating with the Brain Support Network and the Mayo Clinic to help advance research in neurological diseases. Steve's life desire was to help people and his selfless donation will continue to do just that.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Steve at the following link:
