Sylvia L. (Reed) Booker McAfee, 91, of New Bedford fell asleep in the Lord, at home Wednesday, December 15, 2021, after a period of declining health.& She was the wife of the late Rev. William R. McAfee and the late John H. Booker.

Born in Claremont, NH, daughter of the late Glendon and Madeline (Johnson) Reed, she lived most of her life in New Bedford where she was a lifelong active member of the People's Christian Church. Sylvia was a choir member at church and former member of the Board of Directors. She loved horseback riding and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Jack Booker and his wife Susan, Bruce Booker and his wife Kim, Brian Booker and his wife Sherrie, Glenn Booker, and Cheryl Booker and her companion Theron Carmean all of New Bedford and Barry Booker of Dartmouth; Also survived by Robert Bromley, husband of the late Karen McAfee-Bromley and Martha McAfee, wife of the late William R. "Bucky" McAfee; her twin sister, Gloria Gifford of Fairhaven; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was also the sister of the late Linda Beaton.

In accordance with her wishes she was cremated and a graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in New Bedford, Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10AM. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral care, 465 County St., New Bedford.
