NEW BEDFORD-Teresa Carreiro, 78, of New Bedford passed away at St. Luke's Hospital Friday, January 30, 2026 after a long illness.  She was the loving wife of the late Manuel Carreiro.

Born and raised in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose Farias and Virginia Goncalo, she was a longtime resident of New Bedford.  Teresa enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her children, Aldena Vieira and her husband Luis of New Bedford, Henry Carreiro of Tiverton, RI, Arthur Carreiro and his wife Sandra and Diana Correia and her husband Antonio all of New Bedford;  10 grandchildren, Matthew Vieira, Nicole Rodriguez, Katherine Key, Tiffany Vieira, Kyle Correia, Alyssa Carreiro, Austin Correia, Nicolas, Ethan and Sofia Carreiro;  three great grandchildren, Solana, Olivia and Elara;  her siblings, Maria Barreira of Portugal, Jose Farias and his wife Norvinda and Antonio Farias and his wife Belmira all of Canada, and the late Serafina Guido and Manuel Farias.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
