After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Teresa Silvia 69, of Dartmouth, Massachusetts passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 1, 1957 in New Jersey, Teresa spent her adult life in the SouthCoast area, where she built a life centered on family, compassion, and caring for others.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Silvia Jr.; her loving children, Christie Silvia, Walter Silvia III, and Carrie Silvia. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kyla, Katelyn, Brianna, Derrin, Austin, and Lucas, and a cherished great-grandmother to Navayah and Mikey. She is also survived by her siblings, Butch, Dale , Nancy, Danny, Gwen, and Dean, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Teresa was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Mary Snow, and her siblings, Mary "Sissy" Ptaszenski and Roy Snow.
For more than 30 years, Teresa worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating her career to caring for others with kindness, compassion, and dignity. Her selflessness and gentle heart touched the lives of countless patients and families throughout the years.
Outside of work, Teresa found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved flowers, tending to her plants and garden, spending time reading and trying her luck with scratch tickets. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Teresa will be remembered for her strength, her caring spirit, and the unconditional love she shared so freely. She also had a stubborn streak that was simply part of who she was—a determination that helped her face life's challenges with courage and resilience. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 9-11AM in the Donaghy New Day Cremation and Funeral Care, 465 County Street, New Bedford with a funeral service at 11AM. For facility directions and memorial register please visit, www.newdayfunerals.com
