Theresa “Tot”
Woodhouse
December 6, 2025
Theresa "Tot" Woodhouse (Curran), 67, of Attleboro Falls, passed away peacefully at home on December 6th, surrounded by the people she loved most.
Born and raised in Charlestown, MA, Tot grew up with her brother Jimmy and her sister Margie, spending her early years Irish step dancing and attending Mount St. Joseph Academy, an all-girls Catholic school. Being a lefty and a strong-willed young woman it gave her both discipline and a lifetime of stories she'd laugh about again and again.
From childhood through adulthood, she was part of a trio known fondly—and sometimes infamously—as The Three Musketeers: Karen, Sara, and Tot. She was, without question, "the fun one." Auntie Von became another unique sister she gathered along the way, and Brenda, a neighbor who became a treasured friend, rounded out her circle of lifelong friends.
Tot met the love of her life by pure chance at a Christmas party the Musketeers were hosting—a Coast Guard gentleman from New York who won her heart instantly. To this day, the jury's still out on whether he knocked over the entire Christmas tree, but everyone agrees: they fell in love that night, and he never left Massachusetts again.
She earned her certificate in medical transcription and began her career converting vocal recordings into text—which included, transcribing a Jay-Z album.
Above all, Tot was devoted to her children. She was the mom who showed up for everything: coaching soccer teams, joining the PTO, creating themed birthday shirts, and cheering the loudest at every event. Her kitchen adventures were legendary—mostly because she preferred her food burnt to a crisp and therefore was never trusted around a stove, toaster, microwave, grill, campfire… or even ice cream. And she'd be the first to say she didn't give a "flying fuck" about anyone's opinion on that.
Tot found peace in the quiet joys of life: building puzzles, completing crosswords, and working on needlepoints with the same patience she showed everyone she loved. She delighted in sharing photos of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and she found genuine excitement in the little everyday moments people shared with her. She made ordinary life feel special simply by being present.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Maurice, along with her dear aunts—May, Kay, and Maime—women who helped shape her humor, her boldness, and her fierce love for family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth; her son, Douglas, his fiancée, Samantha Chouinard; and her daughters, Joycelin, husband Christopher (their daughter, Eliza), Samantha (her son, Yantai), and Ariel.
She taught us that life is meant to be lived with laughter, burnt hot dogs, and not sweating the small stuff. She leaves behind a life full of love, grit, and joy—and a family she built, raised, and poured her heart into. Through them, her spirit and everything she stood for will live on.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 1pm-3pm in the Foley-Cook New Day Funeral Home, 126 South Main Street, Attleboro. The family welcomes you to join them for a celebration of life dinner for Theresa from 3:30pm-6:30pm in the Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Ave, North Attleborough.
