William James Carter Ill, known as "Skip", age 79 of New Bedford Massachusetts, passed away on August 23, 2024.

Skip was born on January 4, 1945 in New Bedford. He was the son of the late William J. Carter Jr. and Winifred T (Francis) Carter.

Skip worked in Real Estate for many years and was the owner of Carter Appraisals.

Skip is survived by his wife Joan Carter and his 3 daughters Tracy Garcia, Jennifer Carter and Robyn Carter, and his stepdaughter Kasie. He is also survived by his siblings Karen Halloran, Jan Hollis and Stephen Carter, as well as his 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Kelly and Chris Carter, his brother Paul Carter and stepson Justin.

Skip's happiest years were those spent with Joni and the joyful times he shared playing music with his brother Paul and participating in the local Folk music scene of Tryworks and Joshua's loft. He loved spending time at the ocean especially Horseneck Beach in Westport and in Bermuda.

While his later years were more solitary, the positive impact of his earlier life and the many special moments with loved ones will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
