SOUTH ATTLEBORO-William R. "Bill" Newman, Sr., 76, passed away on November 29, 2024. He was the loving husband of Gail K. (Ockert) Newman.

Bill was born in Attleboro and was the son of the late John H. Newman, Jr, and Ruth (Smith) Newman.

Bill was a graduate of Attleboro High School and served as a firefighter for the City of Attleboro for over 30 years a job he truly loved. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and beekeeping. Bill loved to spend time in Florida with his family and was also a member of the Moose Club and the Attleboro Elks Lodge for many years. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, William Newman, Jr. of Seekonk, Katy O'Donnell of Rumford, RI, Troy Newman, Sr., of Seekonk, Melissa Lanoue and her husband Kenneth of Seekonk and Jason Newman of Warwick, RI; siblings, John "Butch" Newman III of North Attleboro, Dorothy "Dee" Forte of Taunton and Jeffrey Newman and his wife Pamela of East Waterboro, ME; grandchildren, Heather, Nathan, Mackenzi, Taylor, Connor, Oliver, Casey, Joseph and Maggie and great grandchildren, Elijah and Johnny and several nieces and nephews.

He was the grandfather of the late Troy Newman, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 12-3pm in the Foley-Cook New Day Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro. His funeral will be held on Monday, December 16th with prayers beginning at 10am in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in the Woodlawn North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro.
